Modules help users to efficiently organize dashboards by grouping related dashboards under a single module. Within each module, dashboards can be further categorized to simplify navigation and provide quicker access to relevant insights.
Modules, categories, and dashboards can be created and managed across all levels of the account hierarchy—domain, organization, and tenant.
Users at the domain level can switch between organization and tenant views through a unified interface to create and publish modules and dashboards at the respective levels. Similarly, users at the organization level can switch to tenant view to create and publish dashboards for that level. Tenants can create, manage, and publish dashboards within their own level only.
A key publishing requirement is that every dashboard must be linked to a module, whether it is created from the Modules page or the Dashboards page.
Create and Manage Modules
Modules allow users to group dashboards into structured categories for better organization and discoverability. Within each module, users can create new dashboards or add existing ones. Categories can also be managed within modules—users can create, edit, or delete categories and assign dashboards to them.
Each dashboard comes with options, such as editing, deleting, exporting as JSON, or adding it to the global menu.
Add Dashboards to the Global Menu
Dashboards within modules can be added to the global menu and set as landing pages. These dashboards will appear in menu sections like Home, Operations Intelligence, Resolutions, Security Intelligence, Usage & Limits, Visibility, and Assets & Risk Intelligence, offering a quick-access view for users across the platform.
Publishing Requirements
To publish a dashboard, it must be part of a module and assigned to a category. The Publish button is only visible when working within an organization or tenant view, it is not available at the domain level. When a dashboard is republished from a parent account and a version already exists at the child level, the existing dashboard will be overridden.
Dashboard Visibility Across Hierarchies
Only published modules and dashboards are visible to child accounts. Dashboards published from parent accounts cannot be edited at the child level but can be exported or added to the global menu.
Module Cards Overview and Quick Actions
When you navigate to the Modules page, you will see a list of module cards that have already been created. Each card provides key details and quick actions.
On Hover Options
Hovering over a module card reveals a context menu (kebab menu) with the following options:
- Edit Module – Modify the module’s details
- Create Category – Add a new category under the module
- Add Dashboards – Associate dashboards with the module
- Delete Module – Remove the module (after confirming deletion)
Card Details
Each module card displays the following information:
- Total Dashboards – The number of dashboards included in the module.
- Categories – The list of categories created under the module.
Switch between accounts
Use this procedure to switch between accounts and access modules across different hierarchy levels.
Depending on your current access level, you can switch between the following:
- Domain-level users can switch between:
- Domain (My Account): Users can create modules, categories, and dashboards at the same level.
- Organization: Users at the domain level can switch to the organization workspace using account switcher to create modules, categories, and dashboards, and then publish the modules with dashboards to different organizations from the domain level.
- Tenant: Users at the domain level can switch to the tenant workspace to create modules, categories, and dashboards, and then publish the modules associated with categories and dashboards to tenants under specific organizations.
- Organization-level users can switch between:
- Organization (My Account): Users can create modules, categories, and dashboards at the same level.
- Tenant: Users at the organization level can switch to the tenant workspace to create modules, categories, and dashboards, and then publish the modules associated with categories and dashboards to tenants under this organization.
To switch between accounts:
-
From the left navigation bar, go to Modules.
This displays the list of modules available at your current account level—Domain, Organization, or Tenant. -
Use the account switcher drop-down at the top to change the context:
-
- If you are at the Domain level, select an organization or Tenant from the drop-down to view and manage modules created at that level.
- If you are at the Organization level, select a Tenant to view modules created at the tenant level.
This allows you to seamlessly access and manage modules across the appropriate hierarchy levels.
List View of Modules, Categories, and Dashboards
The List View presents all modules, categories, and dashboards in a compact, table-based layout. This view allows for easier navigation and management by expanding each module to reveal the associated categories and dashboards.
Within a Module, you can:
- Edit Module – Update the module's name, description, or hierarchy level.
- Create Category – Add a new category under the module to group related dashboards.
- Add Existing Dashboard(s) – Link dashboards that are already created and available for use within this module.
- Create Dashboard – Build a new dashboard if the one you need doesn’t already exist.
- Delete Module – Permanently remove the module and its associated structure.
Within a Category (under a Module), you can:
- Edit Category – Update the category’s name and description.
- Add Existing Dashboard(s) – Add dashboards that already exist in the platform to this category.
- Create Dashboard – Create a new dashboard directly within the category.
- Delete Category – Permanently delete the category from the module.
Within a Dashboard (under a Module or Category), you can:
- Edit Dashboard – Modify the dashboard’s name, description, or layout.
- Clone Dashboard - Clone the dashboard into the module and category of your choice. Note that you cannot clone a dashboard into any module or category published from the parent account.
- Export Dashboard – Export the dashboard as a JSON file for import into another tenant. You can only export the dashboards in the published state.
- Delete Dashboard – Permanently delete the dashboard from the module or category
Viewing Modules, Categories, and Dashboards Published from the Parent Account
In the List View, you can see modules, categories, and dashboards that have been published from the parent account. The available actions depend on how the content was shared and your account type—parent or child.
Shared Modules
When a module is shared from a parent account to a child account, it is read-only in the child account. Users in the child account cannot edit the shared module directly.
Clone Module
You can create a copy of a shared module using the Clone Module option. While cloning, you can choose to:
- Clone the entire module as-is, or
- Select specific categories and dashboards to include in the cloned module.
Note: Changes made to the original module in the parent account will not affect the cloned module.
Shared Categories (Within a Module)
If a category is part of a module published from a parent account, it cannot be edited in the child account. However, users can clone the category.
Clone Category
You can create a copy of a shared category by selecting the Clone Category option. While cloning, you can:
- Clone all dashboards within the category, or
- Select specific dashboards to include in the cloned version.
Since a category must reside within a module, you will be required to select a module available at your account level to complete the cloning process. Note that you cannot clone a category into a module that was published from the parent account to the child account.
Shared Dashboards (Within a Module)
Dashboards published from the parent account are also read-only in child accounts. These dashboards cannot be edited directly, but they can be cloned.
Available Actions for Published Dashboards
- Clone Dashboard: Clone the dashboard and select a different module and category for the cloned version. Note that you cannot clone a dashboard into a module or category published from the parent level to the child account.
- Export Dashboard: Export the dashboard as a JSON file. You can then import it into another tenant.
- View Draft Dashboard: If a dashboard is in draft status, you’ll see the View Draft Dashboard option. This allows you to review and make changes to the draft before publishing.
