This article explains the multiple authentication methods and advantages of single-sign-on features available in the Resolution Intelligence Cloud.
This article describes the federated environment that provides authentication of users via third party apps and single sign on (SSO) flows that are offered by Resolution Intelligence Cloud.
Federated Environment
An environment in which the users authenticate themselves using a separate mechanism that allows them to generate credentials. For example, ADFS, Azure AD, GSuite, and Okta allow you to generate independent user credentials. With these credentials, you can access resources for other applications, like Resolution Intelligence Cloud.
A federated environment consists of the following components:
Service Provider
In our system, Resolution Intelligence acts as a service provider (SP)
Identity Provider
The independent apps provide services like
- Creating and maintaining user credentials and their profile information.
- Authenticating users through SSO to the Service Provider
Resolution Intelligence Cloud supports SAML 2.0 authentication via multiple identity providers (GSuite, Azure AD) and other native vendors like Okta, and Microsoft ADFS.
Supported Identity Providers
Resolution Intelligence Cloud supports a variety of external IDP vendors to facilitate SSO. The following IDPs are native to Resolution Intelligence Cloud and enable you to configure SSO.
- Okta Workforce
- Microsoft ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services)
- Microsoft Azure AD
In addition to the native apps, you can configure SSO through SAML 2.0-compliant vendors as well. The SAML 2.0 compliant vendors are:
Single Sign On (SSO)
Access resources of Resolution Intelligence Cloud using SSO credentials without having a direct account. SSO enables the following benefits:
- Reduces the number of attack surfaces as users login once each day and use only one set of credentials.
- Users are not required to generate and remember credentials for each app.
- Saves time, improves security, and reduces fatigue.
Note: Single Sign-On is available on all subscription plans (Foundation, Analytics, and Resolutions)
